چکیده
the purpose of this study was to determine the intensity influence of perform one set half squat on vertical jump performance and muscle electrical activity in adolescent athletes. the subjects were 12 adolescent boys athletes. the subjects performed one set of dynamic half-squat using low and high intensities (li= low intensity with 40% 1rm, hi= high intensity with 80% 1rm), and a control (c) warm up condition on randomized separating conditions over the course of different 3 days. after a 4 minutes post-protocols, the subjects completed a vertical jump test (vj). the electromyographic (emg) activity of quadriceps (qc) and hamstring (h) were recorded during the concentric phase of the jumps. a one way anova with repeated measures on the one factor was used to analyze the data. the results of this study indicated that the vertical jump height and qc emg activity had improved significantly (p ≤ 0.05) after li protocol compared to c. no significant differences were found among the repeated measures in h emg activity (p > 0.05). it is concluded that the use of a specific warm-up that includes half-squats, performed with low intensity, improves vj performance that seems to be associated with the neurological and intramuscular changes.

The influence of squat depth on maximal vertical jump performance.
An increase in the period over which a muscle generates force can lead to the generation of greater force and, therefore, for example in jumping, to greater jump height. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of squat depth on maximum vertical jump performance. We hypothesized that jump height would increase with increasing depth of squat due to the greater time available for the gener...
متن کاملEffects of warm-up on vertical jump performance and muscle electrical activity using half-squats at low and moderate intensity.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a specific warm-up using half-squats at low and moderate intensity on vertical jump performance and electromyographic activity of the thigh muscles. The subjects were 26 men who were divided into a low intensity group (LIG; n = 13) and a moderate intensity group (MIG; n = 13). The LIG performed a specific warm-up protocol that included t...

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of different postactivation potentiation conditioning activities’ volumes and intensities on countermovement jump and multiple sets of high speed kicks. Nine taekwondo athletes (M±SD; age: 20.3±5.2 years; height: 177±7.2 cm; body mass: 71.8±15.3 kg; maximum dynamic half-squat 1RM: 132.8±32.5 kg and practice time: 9.6±7.2 years) participated. One c...
متن کاملTrunk Muscle Activity during Drop Jump Performance in Adolescent Athletes with Back Pain
In the context of back pain, great emphasis has been placed on the importance of trunk stability, especially in situations requiring compensation of repetitive, intense loading induced during high-performance activities, e.g., jumping or landing. This study aims to evaluate trunk muscle activity during drop jump in adolescent athletes with back pain (BP) compared to athletes without back pain (...
متن کاملThe effect of focus of attention on electromyography activity of the rectus abdominus muscle in vertical jump
Various studies have shown that the external focus of attention is better than the internal focus of attention. But, so far no study has been investigated the level of electrical activity of the rectus abdominus muscle as a trunk stabilizer muscle. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of focus of attention on electromyography activity of the rectus abdominus muscle...
